Helping to Green Australia

Sophie Scott

My day involved….
Organising an event about Energy Saving at home for residents in Sydney. It involved contacting expert speakers in areas such as Climate Change and household energy saving ideas.

I organised 4 volunteers to help out at the event and they researched specific ideas around the topic of energy - including hot water, heating and cooling your house and fridges.

My career path....
So far has been Environmental Education and this event is part of many I organise around different environmental topics, including water, waste, transport and household chemicals. I work for the Australian Conservation Foundation on the GreenHome program.

I really loved science at high school. So at university, I started off studying computer science, but really wanted to change to environmental science after a year of that.

I guess it was a matter of choosing something that i was really interested in, that was changing rapidly and I could find a job at the end of it. My science teachers at school were unreal - made science really practical for me.
