- So far this day has just been rather
infuriating. Am busy making a poster
depicting different types of treatment of cancer
for South African National Science Week which will be
held in May. These posters will go out to libraries and
schools around the Western Province. So far - my @#$%&* program has bombed five times
– with no warning – and yes, I know it does this, so I
save constantly, but still it managed to hup me in the
butt when I least expected it. Drives me nuts!

Poster work in progress!!
Am also impatiently waiting for the report that’s due
in today on the “Super Silly Science Game” –
this is the junior relation of the Phat Physics Game. Once again, we played it to test it out at
the SASOL Scifest in Grahamstown. It works – just need
funding.

game.........................
My
office is a tip – have not had time to sort out
the pre-Scifest debris let alone the stuff that accumulated
during the 9 days I was gone. (Okay, so generally
speaking it ranges from “serious tip” status to “slight
tip” status.) Bottom line – I can’t find anything
– up side – I can hide behind piles of papers and boxes
when I don’t want to be found.
14h45 - Am being hounded
by Atomic Visual Effects who are coming to use
our site to film a bit in a movie called “Spoon” – yah
– I sometimes generate extra cash for our “iThemba Xplora!”
(kids lab) by letting people use our site as a film
location – apparently we have all this “amazingly
interesting stuff”. Now these dudes want to change panels
in the wall of data room – think perhaps not! I’m fussy tho’ – no tobacco adverts – don’t
think that would make a lot of sense using a Cancer Hospital. (Or maybe they have just not offered us enough money yet!)
Not a very interesting
day – was it?
I’ll save you all from
dying of further boredom – have to go fetch my
GG (Gins’ Getz – aaargh it’s such a cute car
– two years later and I still love it) from the garage
now – it’s been serviced for its 45,000 km.
Oh yes – a short
bio. Simple
really. I’ve been working at iThemba LABS since
the year dot. Got my education at the University of Life. Mastered the kids (two of my own – have shares in a third)
and married the Doctor.
When I’m not at work, I can be found reading (usually
in the bathroom – it’s the only peaceful place at home),
fabric painting, or playing spider solitaire (skaam
jou), but to be honest, this is not very often. I’ve
written and illustrated two little short comic strip type
things about HIV AIDS, which - amazingly enough - have
been published.
